Rob’s playing style is steeped in the Bebop tradition mixed with Post-Bop and Modern Jazz. His influences include the great vibraphonists (Milt Jackson, Bobby Hutcherson, etc.) to be sure, but his influences don’t stop there. He built his unique melodic style on the lyricism and phrasing of the great horn players of all jazz eras, and the texture in his 4-mallet work reflects the innovative harmonic concepts of all the great pianists from Art Tatum and Bill Evans to Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner and beyond.
In this performance, Rob teams up with preeminent saxophonist Rick Margitza in an exciting mix of originals and tunes by jazz artists who have inspired him through the years.
