Dear Festival Volunteer:

With four stages of non-stop music, spanning across both Hart Plaza and Campus Martius in downtown Detroit, the 39th Annual Detroit Jazz Festival remains the largest free jazz festival in the world. Every Labor Day weekend, the Festival creates unique musical explorations from jazz legends, those in their prime and up-and-coming artists who are keeping the legacy alive. Musicians and fans from around the world come to the city of Detroit to experience the American jazz art form. We couldn’t keep it free for everyone without the passion and commitment of our volunteers. The spirit of community involvement has long contributed to the success of the Detroit Jazz Festival.

If you love jazz music, working with people, behind-the-scenes involvement, the hustle and bustle of the entertainment business, and giving back to the community, the DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL WANTS YOU!

Due to the endless fun and memorable experiences, many of our volunteers return year after year, but we still need more. We need your passion, enthusiasm, and energy in the following volunteer areas:

• Transportation
• Merchandising
• Hotel Concierge
• Airport Concierge
• Stage Support
• Recycling
• Administration and more

Each volunteer will receive a commemorative Detroit Jazz Festival Volunteer t-shirt, a discount on Official Festival merchandise, an invitation to the annual volunteer party and an earful of great music.

ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE. THE DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL REQUIRES VOLUNTEERS TO REGISTER FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) SHIFTS WITHIN THE SAME DEPARTMENT. THE DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL DOES NOT PROVIDE FINANCIAL COMPENSATION FOR ANY VOLUNTEER POSITIONS. PLEASE BE SURE TO THOROUGHLY READ THE JOB DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT IN WHICH YOU INTEND TO REGISTER.

ALL VOLUNTEER REGISTRATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. IT IS OUR GOAL TO ALLOW ALL VOLUNTEERS TO WORK THEIR DESIRED TIME AND LOCATION. HOWEVER DUE TO ONGOING ADVANCEMENTS IN OUR OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES, REASSIGNMENTS MAY BE REQUESTED. VOLUNTEERS WILL RECEIVE CONFIRMATION FROM THE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR WHEN THEIR SHIFTS HAVE BEEN APPROVED.
