The multi-stylistic Bill Meyer Group meets the young and glamorous Jill Opal as she expands her talents into the world of jazz. With a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Eastern Michigan University, Jill has won accolades around the world for her forays into Classical, Pop, R&B, Gospel, Hip-Hop, and Techno Music. She has performed and toured with The International Lyric Academy in Rome & Viterbo, Italy. As a frequent performer at the longest-running award-winning BMG Music Jam, she is now honing her skills in the jazz arena. Here she is joined by a star-studded collection of jam veterans and local musical artists including Butter Hawkins on drums, Takashi Iio on bass and Roland Chandler on percussion. Emerging horn stars, Nate Topo on sax and Allen Dennard on trumpet, round out the latest band led by veteran of 60 years in the business, Bill Meyer, on keyboards. Surprises are always expected with Meyers’ entertaining and versatile approach that has graced the stages of the Detroit Jazz Festival since its first year.
