The festival kicks off with the Friday Night Opening Party August 30 – September 2, 2024.

Friday: 5:00 p.m.-11 pm.

Saturday: noon-11 p.m.

Sunday: noon-11:00 p.m.

Monday: noon-8:30 p.m.

Paid parking is available at various lots throughout the downtown area:

Is there a place to park my bike at the festival?

Yes! The Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation is providing complimentary bike valet where you can safely leave your bike. The festival’s bike valet is located at the entrance of Hart Plaza, on the left.

Where can I get information on festival layout and accessibility?

Are there ADA accommodations available on the festival footprint?

Accessible restrooms are available throughout the festival footprint. We encourage guests with mobility disabilities to utilize personal forms of transportation, including wheelchairs and scooters. A limited number of wheelchairs will be available for rent with valid identification. Use the accessiBe widget on our website to personalize your online experience. All festival performances are livestreamed and can be reached on your personal device.

Where can I get Official Detroit Jazz Festival Merchandise?

Official Detroit Jazz Festival merchandise is in our DJF Official Merchandise booth, located at the entrance to Hart Plaza and close to the information/accessibility booth. We have sustainable t shirts, posters that fit in your carryon bag, and more.

What is a VIP Pass?

A VIP Pass gives access to the VIP hospitality area and reserved seating. To learn about VIP Passes, click here

Where is the VIP hospitality area located?

VIP Hospitality is located in Hart Plaza near the Promenade and Lincoln Gardens area. VIP Hospitality Hours of Operations: • Lincoln Gardens Hospitality Saturday and Sunday: noon-10 p.m. Monday: noon-8:30 p.m. Enter from Hart Plaza entrance and to your right.

How do I get my VIP credentials/wristbands?
  1. You may pick-up your VIP wristbands at the festival footprint beginning on Friday, September 2 at 4pm at the VIP check-in area, just inside the Hart Plaza entrance and to your right. THERE ARE NO TICKET/PASSES SALES at the festival, only pickup of pre-ordered passes.
  2. You may pick-up your VIP wristbands on Wednesday, August 31, or Thursday, September 1, from Noon – 5pm by appointment only at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, 3rd Please email memberships@detroitjazzfest.org to make your appointment or if you have any questions regarding VIP credential pick-up.

You will be required to present an identification that matches the name of the purchaser. We will not release credentials to third parties. The Detroit Jazz Festival is not responsible for and will not replace lost or stolen wristbands.

How do I purchase VIP ticket(s) during the festival?

How much of my donation is tax deductible?

Tax deductible amounts for each VIP ticket can be found on the ticketing page of www.detroitjazzfest.org. If you have further questions, please email memberships@detroitjazzfest.org

What are the food and beverage options at the festival?

There are a variety of food vendors and options at the festival, from pizza and soul food to fresh lemonade and cotton candy. NO cash will be accepted, please plan ahead for a cashless experience.

May I bring food, beverages to the festival?

Due to health and safety concerns, bringing outside food, beverages are discouraged. Bringing beer and alcoholic beverages onto the festival footprint is prohibited. Alcoholic beverages may be purchased at the Detroit Jazz Festival Drink Booths, located in Hart Plaza and in Campus Martius.

May I bring my own folding chair?

 Yes, there are designated areas for folding and beach chairs you bring to the festival. These areas are clearly marked and folding / beach chairs are not permitted beyond the indicated areas.

May I bring a tent or canopy to the festival?

Tents and canopied structures are prohibited in all areas of the event footprint.

May I smoke in Hart Plaza or Campus Martius Park?

Yes, Hart Plaza and Campus Martius Park are public places, so smoking is permitted. However, smoking is not allowed in the VIP hospitality areas and reserved seating sections. We ask that you please be courteous to fellow Festival attendees by not smoking in crowded areas.

May I bring a purse or backpack onto Festival grounds?

Yes, purses and backpacks are allowed at the festival; however alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Is it safe to attend the festival?

Yes, Detroit Police and a privately hired security company have a presence in downtown Detroit, Hart Plaza and Campus Martius throughout the event. Please continue to use good judgment in bringing valuables and leaving items unattended.

What should I wear to the festival?

The festival is outdoors, and the weather can quickly change. During the day, bring sunglasses, hats, visors, and plenty of sunscreen. Because temperatures can dramatically drop at night, please bring appropriate outerwear. Festival grounds are concrete and can be rugged in places. Wear comfortable flat shoes; we strongly advise against high heels.

Is there storage at the festival?

No, there is no storage available to attendees within the festival grounds.

Is there a lost and found?

All lost items can be turned in or retrieved at the festival security office usually located in the lower level of Hart Plaza. Please ask any security officer for assistance in finding the exact location of the security office.
