THE GUARDIAN #13

Due to the ongoing construction improvements on Hart Plaza, and our goal to keep the Festival safe, live and free for everyone, the 42nd annual Detroit Jazz Festival presented by Rocket Mortgage has pivoted to a virtual live format that will be streamed and broadcast “live” for free this Labor Day weekend.  Click here, to read more about this decision.

Donor Spotlight

The Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation mourns the loss of our dear friend and Guardian of Jazz Derrick L. Jackson. An avid traveler and connoisseur of music, Derrick had a special love for jazz.  He was a dedicated Detroit Jazz Festival attendee and donor, and a Tom Joyner and Blue Note Jazz Cruiser. Derrick’s unexpected departure from this life on July 30 has left a void in the jazz community and in our hearts. We will miss Derrick’s warm smile and gentle spirit as displayed in the highlight reel below.
