Coming to the Stage

The Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation is committed to celebrating the excellence displayed by outstanding middle, high school and collegiate jazz programs. Applications for performance opportunities at the 2020 Detroit Jazz Festival are now being accepted through June 15th for MSBOA middle and high school bands and the Collegiate Combo Competition.  Selected bands will be notified Monday, July 1st.

Who will be the Detroit Jazz Festival’s next emerging vocalist?

The Festival is seeking talented young jazz vocalists for the 9th Annual Detroit Jazz Festival Youth Vocal Competition. The Foundation is reaching out to all Michigan School Vocal Music Association teachers for submissions. Finalists will perform with a professional jazz trio on Thursday, August 13th at the Dirty Dog Jazz Café before a panel of judges. The winner will receive mentoring from Detroit’s most prominent jazz vocalists and perform at the Festival.
