On Monday, March 23, the 41st Detroit Jazz Festival artist lineup was announced via live stream on Detroit Jazz Fest LIVE!  If you missed it, visit the Festival’s home page at https://www.detroitjazzfest.org to see the lineup for this year’s Festival.  In addition, 2020 Artist-in-Residence Dee Dee Bridgewater, will ignite the stages with several performances this Labor Day weekend.  Many other artists will be announced over the next few months. These changes help maintain the Festival’s sustainability and its prominent position as the largest admission-free jazz festival in the world. Coming to the Stage

The Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation is committed to celebrating the excellence displayed by outstanding middle, high school  and collegiate jazz programs. Applications for performance opportunities at the 2020 Detroit Jazz Festival are now being accepted for MSBOA middle and high school bands and the Collegiate Combo Competition.  Selected bands will be notified Monday, June 1.

Who will be the Detroit Jazz Festival’s next emerging vocalist?

The Foundation is seeking talented young jazz vocalists for the 9th Annual Detroit Jazz Festival Youth Vocal Competition. The Foundation is reaching out to all Michigan School Vocal Music Association teachers for submissions. Finalists will perform with a professional jazz trio on Thursday, August 13th at the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe before a panel of judges. Winner will receive mentoring from Detroit’s most prominent jazz vocalists and perform at the Festival.
